Good Morning Newlands!
From the 31st of May to the 3rd of June Newlands College is putting on the Broadway smash-hit Hairspray! Tickets are near sold out for the Tuesday (31st) and Friday (3rd), but lots of spots are available for Wednesday & Thursday nights. The show is full of high energy, catchy music, and a record cast of 87 students (including 14 Year 9's). Tickets can be booked at school reception or through any cast member. In my experience Newlands College musicals are a not to be missed event. I'll be working backstage throughout the run and I'll look forward to seeing some familiar faces in the crowd! Come and see these exceptionally talented students transport you to Baltimore of the 1960's; a time of racial discrimination, live-televised music shows, teenage rebellion, and a whole lot of Ultra Clutch Hairspray!

On Thursday the 12th of May- Newlands college sent 70 junior students to take part in a junior Triangular Tournament at Onslow College. The Triangular is held for students of Newlands, Onslow, and Tawa Colleges. This year the sports were; hockey, badminton, basketball, netball, cross-country, and football. Congratulations to all students who took part and also congrats to the winning school Tawa. Our students were fortunate enough to bring home the bronze medals ;)
Students have just two more weeks left in their current technology rotation. This means projects are coming to an end. In Hard Technology the students have been building storage devices, in Soft Technology the students are sewing together monsters, and in Food Technology they are heading towards a dessert competition in the coming lessons.
